Earth is Blue and Stories from the Blue are professional video productions created by the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries with the goal of inspiring people everywhere to care for our ocean, and to spread the message that our Earth isn’t green – it’s blue. This planet is an ocean planet and the National Marine Sanctuary System protects some of the most iconic underwater places throughout the United States.  The videos featured here all share stores from Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary which was the first freshwater marine sanctuary, established in 2000.  It protects 4300 square miles of northwest Lake Huron where nearly 200 historically significant shipwrecks are preserved by the cold, fresh water.
