On this episode of Great Lakes Now, learn why the Edmund Fitzgerald was the last major shipwreck on the lakes and how the shipping industry has changed since the iconic freighter went down. Then climb aboard the oldest working tugboat in the world.
The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center is open:
Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
Saturday 10am to 5pm
Sunday 12pm to 5pm
The last weekend of every month is a “Great Lakes Now weekend” where we show the latest episode from Great Lakes Now, a product of Detroit PBS.
This is a free event open to all. The episode will play in the theater all weekend while the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center is open. The center is always free of admission and offers 10,000 square feet of exhibit space to explore!
