Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary to host International Film Festival
Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary is bringing the world of cinema to New York State on April 2, 2026. The inaugural International Film Festival will be a memorable evening featuring inspiring ocean and Great Lakes films from around the world, a social reception, and opportunities to connect with sanctuary leaders and community members.
While the films span global waters, the event also highlights Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary and its 1,722 square miles in eastern Lake Ontario — a gateway between the Great Lakes and Atlantic Ocean where centuries of maritime history reflect cultural exchange, commerce, and innovation. Beneath the lake’s cold, freshwater, well-preserved shipwrecks and archaeological resources reveal the stories of those who lived, worked, and traveled across these waters
WHEN: Thursday, April 2, 2026, 6 to 9:00 p.m.
